eLearning
To begin your Rescue Diver journey, complete the PADI Rescue Diver eLearning course at your own pace. If you're also enrolling in the Emergency First Response (EFR) course, a separate eLearning module will be provided. These materials will give you the foundational knowledge needed to confidently handle rescue scenarios and emergency care situations.

Training
The Rescue Diver course is held over one weekend and focuses on real-world rescue scenarios rather than diving techniques.
Saturday: You'll spend the day in the pool practicing rescue exercises, including responding to distressed divers and managing emergencies. If you're enrolled in the EFR course, it typically takes place on the same day, covering CPR, first aid, and AED use in a calm, supportive environment.
Sunday: Head to Refugio State Beach or another local site to apply your skills in realistic ocean scenarios. You'll put everything together in full simulations designed to prepare you for actual dive emergencies.

Course Cost Includes
The course fee includes Rescue Diver eLearning, pool sessions, and ocean training. If you’re taking the EFR course, the eLearning and instruction is also included. Rental scuba gear is included, though it is recommended to own your own gear at this level of training.

Prerequisites
You must be at least 15 years old (ages 12–14 may complete the course privately) and hold an Advanced Open Water (AOW) certification. A CPR pocket mask as well as personal gear—mask, fins, boots, snorkel, and gloves—are required and available at Santa Barbara Aquatics with a 10% discount.
