Swim School

A beginner-level class for children new to swimming or still building confidence in the water.

• No prerequisites

• Learn to blow bubbles, float on the back, and swim independently on both front and back

• Practice climbing in and out of the pool safely

• Focus on comfort, breath control, and basic water independence

• Small class sizes ensure individualized attention and encouragement

Advanced Swim

For swimmers who are already comfortable in the water and can swim short distances independently while getting breaths.

• Prerequisite: Ability to swim short distances independently with breathing

• Learn to swim on the front with bilateral breathing

• Introduction to backstroke and diving techniques

• Practice diving for objects underwater

• Strengthen endurance and confidence through fun, skill-based activities

Stroke School (Ages 4–5)

For confident swimmers ready to learn the fundamentals of all four competitive strokes.

• Prerequisite: Able to swim the full length of the pool, get side breaths in freestyle, and swim comfortably on the back

• Introduction to the four major strokes: freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly

• Build endurance, improve technique, and learn flip turns

• Practice diving skills and efficient transitions between strokes

• Prepares swimmers for Swim Team readiness

Class Details

• Format: Small group classes

• Duration: 30 (Swim School and Advanced) or 45 (Stroke School) minutes per session, one session per week for 8 weeks

• Location: Santa Barbara Aquatics indoor heated pool

• Class Size: Limited to maintain individual attention and safety, 4 students maximum

• Underwater Photos: During week 7, students can have an underwater photo taken, which will be shared with their parents

What to Bring

• Swimsuit, towel, and dry change of clothes

• Goggles (available for purchase at the facility)

• Optional: rash guard or thermal top for added warmth
