Is This BCD Type Right for You?

Back-Inflate BCD

The whole air cell sits behind you; the front is a slim harness with chest and waist straps.

Pros

Naturally horizontal trim underwater
Less drag, with a clear chest for gear and accessories
Often modular, and still available weight-integrated

Trade-offs

Can push you face-forward at the surface — roll onto your back to rest
Slightly trickier to vent completely
Takes a little practice if you are coming from a jacket

Best For

Divers who want better underwater efficiency, frequent divers, and anyone who may progress toward tech.

Ultra-Light Travel Platform

6.5 lb total with a flexible sub-1-lb polymer backplate - packs down small and keeps your dive bag under airline limits without giving up a real harness system.

Fully Modular Design

Backplate, bladder, harness, and weight system are all separable and swappable. Start warm-water single-tank, grow into technical configurations by swapping the bladder.

Deluxe Articulated Harness

Articulated shoulders swivel to match your torso, with Airloc quick-release buckles, a sternum strap, and a removable comfort pad kit.

Twin-Cylinder Ready

Two sets of stainless center-plate grommets bolt on double cylinders, with accessory grommets around the plate edge a jacket BCD can't match.

Reviews

Frequently Asked Questions?

Is the Express Tech Deluxe a backplate-and-wing or a regular BCD?

It sits between the two: a back-inflation BCD built on a soft reinforced-polymer backplate with a continuous-webbing harness. You get BP&W-style modularity and horizontal trim without the weight of a metal plate.

Is 24 lb of lift enough for my diving?

For warm-water travel with a single aluminum 80 and a 3-5mm wetsuit, comfortably yes. For cold water with steel tanks and a drysuit it's marginal - but the bladder is replaceable, so you can swap in a larger optional Zeagle bladder as your diving grows.

How does sizing work - do I pick S/M/L like a jacket?

The Express Tech Deluxe is one size fits all! The continuous-webbing harness adjusts via triglides, covering everything from a 3mm wetsuit to a drysuit on everybody.
