Is This BCD Type Right for You?

Back-Inflate BCD

The whole air cell sits behind you; the front is a slim harness with chest and waist straps.

Pros

Naturally horizontal trim underwater
Less drag, with a clear chest for gear and accessories
Often modular, and still available weight-integrated

Trade-offs

Can push you face-forward at the surface — roll onto your back to rest
Slightly trickier to vent completely
Takes a little practice if you are coming from a jacket

Best For

Divers who want better underwater efficiency, frequent divers, and anyone who may progress toward tech.

Reviews

Frequently Asked Questions?

Why choose the Scout over a jacket-style travel BCD?

The rear-inflate bladder gives flatter, more horizontal trim than a jacket, which pushes you head-up as it inflates. For newer divers focused on buoyancy control, the Scout's rear bladder makes neutral easier once you're used to it.

How does the Scout's weight system work?

Two REAR-mounted pockets hold up to 16 lb total via heavy-duty touch-fastener. Because they're on the back, they're not easily self-accessible mid-dive - a buddy can release them. It does not use the Ripcord system.

Is the Scout suitable for a new Open Water diver?

Yes - Zeagle positions it exactly there. Light, simple, back-inflate, easy to learn on, with 24 lb of lift appropriate for warm/temperate wetsuit diving up to ~5mm. Just consider that you cannot access the ditchable weight during dives.

How small does the Scout pack?

It's Zeagle's purpose-built travel BCD: soft-pack, no rigid frame, folds compactly around other gear rather than occupying fixed volume.
